nj-state-police.JPGA file photo of the New Jersey State Police logo.A female New Jersey State Police sergeant suspended over accusations that she sexually harassed another female trooper she was training claims the state police treats gay female troopers unfairly.

Sgt. Christine Shallcross was suspended without pay on Dec. 31 pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Another female trooper said Shallcross, a 14-year veteran, sexually harassed her during and after academy training.

A lawyer for Shallcross told The Associated Press that he believes her suspension was the result of an "organized attack on the gay female trooper community" by other troopers who are envious that they have not been promoted.

Shallcross was assigned to the internal investigations bureau at the time of her suspension.

I believe the State Police have a moral and legal obligation to protect their employees. although, the officers guilt or innocent hasn't been proven and you are innocent until proven guilty it was the right thing to do in order to minimize friction in the work place and to protect the accuser by all means.SJS

Based on what i read... i would agree that the officer's suspension may be because of jealousy. Reason: Why did one trainee decide to talk about being sexually harrassed by officer Shallcross just now and not before? Yes, the officer deserves to be suspended - However i think she should have gotten pay. She is not yet found guilty.

Ok....so you want to join the NJ State Troopers, are trained by a female trooper, feel she may be coming on to you and what you don't know that she is? Or did someone put you up to saying she sexually harrassed you just to get rid of her finally? Come on this is a 14 year veteran who I am sure know that she would jeopardize her position, tenure, etc. if she tried anything.

I thinks this is just jealously, because this happend since they were in training and now all of a sudden a 14 yr vet gets promoted and you cry sexual harrassment and others crying the same awwee come on anyone can see right through this.......JEALOUSLY.......VAF2053

I think the suspension without payment for that without knowing much about the case is ridiculous. She has responsibility, who will take care her families. In any institution there are always some people need to someone get down even though they can't assume the task. This is jealously as someone is mentionned already.J.E 9722.

The trooper would not jeopardize her career of 14 years in such a manner. Come on there have been plenty of female recruits and this one is the one that turns her on to that extent? What am I missing here?CC5223

This is too vague for me to make a complete judgement. I would need more information because its both of their words against each other. And then the other girl all of sudden comes out to say she been harassed. We need all the facts first. SJC 1687
