N.J. State Police get profiling reminders

N.J. State Police get profiling reminders

We have gone down this road before. I hope that we don't return to yesteryear.

After reading the article I'm not sure if we can totally blame the State Police for the lack of black involvement. Yes it is not a good look for them at all and it probably has to do with how most people, especially minorities, see them as the enemy because of how we have been treated in the past. Still, you can't force a group of people to join something if they don't want to. What the State Police should do is find a way to make it appealing to minorities to join the state police, or any police force for that matter, maybe then they will have a better turn out. D.R. Getting more minorities to join the State Police force would be beneficial to get more viewpoints and to have a better connection and relationship with the minority community. But it is not the States fault that there are so few. You cannot make people join something they are not interested in, and by making it such a priority it creates room for accepting people who are underqualified. A lot of this has to do with our history and the constant fear of racism. We are so afraid that things will be labeled as racially profiling, and it constrains law enforcement.

a lot of police officers a re judged because of how they treat others citizens in the past and it goes the same for them doing the same to us. I think more city people should be police officers where they grew up and as well for urban areas. It would be easier for them to handle situations where they grew up in. I think thats the biggest problem. Not that they need more young police officers, they need more experienced officers who don't get scared easily or who know the people. knows how to defend themselves and protect others.
