Taser or gun, no difference. Death inevitable.

After having several debates regarding the Bart Police Department shooting of an unarmed man, I had to do a little soul searching regarding my position on the police officer's defense. I stated that there was no way that the police officer would shoot an unarmed man while lying in a prone position and with numerous witnesses. I still maintain my position until all the facts come out. However, the attached link will shed new light on the usage of the taser.

My position still remains the same on the police officers deffense that he went for his taser instead of his gun.RP 4743

Well,i side with the police officer on this case ,because he used the taser to subdue the individual instead of guns.On the other hand , the party of the victim could argue that the use of the taser was excessive. Therefore, it all comes down to ATF to discuss the severity of it.

I have no response regarding this matter. These officers should be indicted. C.Okwuego 0424

I alos did a small research on taser, since my knowledge is limited on taser subject. Even if the taser is fatal at its use, I rather be tased than shot. The taser has a small amount of electric shock delivered to your body, therefore the likehood of death through the taser is very small to none. The heart needs much more electrical impulse to go into cardiac arrithymia.

Using tasers does help officers in momentarilty neutralizing a violent, disruptive individual without the use of a firearm but these tasers can also be fatal weapons. The electric shock can react differently on different individuals especially those with heart problems. another scenario can be a suspect with a pacemaker. It can cause heart attacks, strokes from seizures, and electrocution from the high voltage of the shock.

Also the story of the first video is very sad and shows how officers who are not properly trained can cause death to someone else. I believe that the agency was right in firing the officer. the victim was handcuffed already so there was no way that he was resisting from the other officers. the officer basically "tortured" the black male in this scenario and the former officer actions was totally unjustifiable in tasing him six times then the seventh one because he was not moving fast enough in exiting the sqauad car.

The problem with teaser guns is that we have to trust that the police officer will use only the appropriate voltage. But as we know, SOME officers cross the line between doing their jobs and going too far. I would hate to be the person who gets it by the officer who’s had a bad day and a major chip on his shoulder.

I'm sure that was not the first time he had to taser someone. I do think he intentionally meant to harm the black male. Not sure if he actually meant to kill him. Not enough information to determine this dg7659

It's hard to say what exactly the reason is that the cop tasered the black guy so many times. It could have been something other than race even though that's a pretty good guess. But either way, tasering someone who's in handcuffs that many times is not necessary.
